The Waterboys Biography
Scottish rock band The Waterboys was formed in 1963 by noted musician Mike Scott. The band is known for fusing their celtic folk music influences with rock and roll. The Waterboys released their self-titled debut in 1983 under Ensign Records and their sophomore album “A Pagan Place” in the following year. The Waterboys, which officially counts as members Scott, Anthony Thistlethwaite and Karl Wallinger (the rest are guest artists), released their third studio album “This is the Sea” in 1985. After a decade of recording and live performances, The Waterboys disbanded in 1996. The band reunited in 2024 and released the album “A Rock in the Weary Land” which featured a Radiohead and Beck-inspired experimental rock sound. Their latest release is entitled “The Book of Lightning” (2024).
